BSW, RSW #11647
I am born and raised in Vernon, BC and graduated with a Bachelors of Social Work with a specialization in Child Welfare and Attachment from Thompson Rivers University and received my registration through the BC College of Social Workers.Since graduating I have been supporting individuals and families in the Vernon area for over 10 years.
The essence of my work is to facilitate self-growth by helping you identify the core challenges and setbacks in your life, so that you can overcome them with confidence. I specialize in creating personalized plans and providing tools to guide you forward and achieve your desired goals.
Registered Professional Counsellor-Candidate
From my beginnings in healthcare to advocating for employee
care as a public servant, I have always been drawn to the
helping profession. I pursued a diploma in psychology,
specializing in professional counselling as I am driven by a
desire to support mental health in the community.
I believe that each of us has within us the ability to learn to deal with life’s stressors and manage the way we deal with the trials and tribulations that life brings our way. As a mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend, and co-worker, I bring to my practice a blend of lived mental health/life experience, education and a holistic approach while maintaining the philosophy that we’re all capable humans and all go through growth experiences…You don’t have to go through them alone.
Amber was born in Vernon and raised in the Okanagan. In her early 20’s she moved to Calgary, and then on to the Maritimes working in child and youth care field, supporting children and their families, before returning home to the Valley after 16 years.
Having initially started out on her educational journey in Early Childhood Education, where she finished a few courses, she switched paths and went into Social Work. She attained her Social Work diploma from Mount Royal University, and then went on to complete a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from Dalhousie University. She is also certified in foundational level 1 Play Therapy & Marschak Interaction Method.
She looks forward to continuing upon her trajectory of helping children through any challenges they face, while providing a culturally sensitive, holistic, trauma informed, child and family centred care approach.
